Crust, NFTMart, Cycan, Polka.Warriors, DotMarketCap, BML joined the Patract Open Platform alliance in May
In May, Polkadot projects Crust Network, NFTMart, Cycan Network, and Polkadot medium communities Polka.Warriors, DotMarketCap, BML formally announced to join the Patract Open Platform (POP for short, Wasm Contract Technology Alliance) to jointly build the Wasm contract ecosystem.
Until now, 18 high-quality Polkadot ecosystem projects and 7 Polkadot media communities have joined the Patract Open Platform. It mainly covers Polkadot infrastructures, parachains, DApp applications, and media communities. Founding members include: Patract、Acala、Apron、Coinversation、Manta、Litentry、OpenSquare、Plasm、Bifrost、SubDAO、Standard、Zenlink、Clover、Mathchain、Phala、PolkaWorld、PolkaProject、8BTC、One Block+.
As Gavin Wood said, WebAssembly is the future of smart contracts. The New project members are also optimistic about the technical trends of Wasm contracts. Let us listen to their views together.
Zikun, Crust Network CTO said:
Wasm is undoubtedly the next-trending technology that will shock the entire IT world, from traditional Web 2 companies Google, Mozilla, Microsoft and Apple; to the entire Web 3 public blockchains ETH2.0(eWasm), Polkadot, EOS , Near, etc., all voted for applying Wasm to their core tech-stack. The design of Wasm is fast, efficient and portable, this has become the key to the victory of this technology. It also brings unlimited imagination to the Web3 world and Polkadot ecosystem, such as the forkless upgrade of substrate, the light polkadot nodes on browsers and the Wasm contract mechanism of Polkadot. As a decentralized storage project in the Web3 ecosystem, Crust provides a complete solution for the IPFS-based saving and retrivaling service of Wasm contracts, and will also make its own contribution to the development of Wasm.
Caos, NFTMart CTO said:
NFTMart plans to go live on the mainnet in September. After the main business functions are completed, the core business will be opened to third-party developers through Wasm contracts, and through ecological funds, third parties will be encouraged to develop innovatively around NFT+. We believe that openness is one of the spirits of the blockchain. Only when you walk with more excellent partners then you can become stronger. I am very grateful to Parity and Patract Labs for providing technical support such as Substrate and Wasm. We also hope that with the joint efforts of everyone, Wasm contracts can be more secure, efficient, stable, and reliable. In the future, we hope to have more developer groups to join, so the entire ecosystem will be stronger.
Mercury, Core developer of Cycan Network said:
Wasm has the advantages of compiled code instructions, small size, portability, fast loading and compatibility with the new format of the Web, etc. It has high performance and can run on other systems with few changes. In addition, Wasm has a rich underlying libraries and programming Ecosystem, this will greatly improve the productivity of developers. Wasm also supports a variety of hardware, providing performance close to native code. We believe that Wasm will also be used as the basic layer of distributed application development. More and more blockchain projects are coming.
Our team is full of hope for the future development of Wasm. We have used Wasm to develop the ELC stablecoin project, we currently develop the intermodulation function between Wasm and EVM. For the future development of Wasm contract technology, we will gradually optimize these aspects as a member of the alliance in the follow-up: adding basic modules, optimizing compilation, and optimizing the architecture of high-level languages to simplify high-level language writing.
We will track the progress of Wasm contract technology and provide support for the development of WASM contract technology.
The new members joining this time include BlueMountain Lab from the Polkadot Southwest community, Polka.Warriors, and DotMarketCap. They are all keenly aware of the trend of Wasm contract technology innovation and hope to promote the large-scale popularization of Wasm contract technology in the Polkadot ecosystem.
Graves, Co-founder of BlueMountain Labs said:
After getting to know Patract Labs, I also briefly learned the knowledge of Wasm. Wasm is multi-language support and compilable, including C language, c++, java, and the developer’s learning cost is low. Wasm can be uploaded to the chain as a bunch of code , And can adapt to the operating speed of the machine very well, efficiently and flexibly.
Wasm is particularly helpful for contract upgrades. We all know that hard forks are very inefficient and error-prone, because hard forks require nodes to coordinate offline, which is convenient for binding the upgraded content to a large-scale event. Thanks to Wasm, the blockchain built through Substrate can upgrade Runtime without undergoing a hard fork. Wasm can run on any virtual machine, allowing nodes to automatically execute new logic. These upgrades can be small, independent and very specific. All in all, high performance, low cost, and no fork upgrades are the reasons why Wasm contract technology is becoming more and more popular.
We all know that the heterogeneous multi-chain Polkadot has chosen a path that has never been taken from the beginning, pursuing innovation and being brave to challenge. As a long-term supporter of the Polkadot community, we also hope that emerging things like the Wasm contract can go through the difficult initial stage and make a lot of brilliance in the Polkadot ecosystem. In order to support the development of the Wasm contract, we will also actively carry out related online AMA activities to provide media support for alliance members.

Dr. Gavin Wood already said WebAssembly is the future of smart contracts. As a pioneer, Patract Labs was established with the purpose of providing solutions for the development of Parachains and DApps using Wasm contracts. In the role of an alliance member, we hope through joining in Patract Open Platform, we would be able to promote the Wasm smart contract to the community as well as contribute to the mission Dr. Gavin Wood has oriented.
Patract Open Platform is a public service and open Polkadot Wasm contract technology alliance. Welcome the participation of parachains and application developers who are willing to support and recognize Wasm contract technology. The future of smart contracts will belong to Wasm and you.
About Patract Labs
Patract Labs is providing solutions for the development of Parachains and DApps in the Wasm smart contract ecosystem of Polkadot. We help the community to design and develop on-chain contract modules and Runtime support, and provide DApp developers with full-stack tools and services support, covering development, testing, debugging, deployment, monitoring, data provider and front-end development stages.
